Sydney Airport Lands MoVida

MoVida Logo VerticalSydney Airport will further enhance its high calibre food and beverage offering for customers with the arrival of celebrated Spanish tapas bar MoVida, set to open in its T2 Domestic Terminal at the end of August 2013.

The soon-to-open 137 square metre tapas bar is being brought to Sydney Airport by premium food and beverage and retail outlet operator, Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE), and will have a seating capacity of 80.

“As part of the expansion and revitalisation of T2, we have actively sought premium brands such as MoVida to enrich our existing mix. Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we are pleased to be able to offer them a unique dining experience, which will enhance convenience for travellers and enrich the joy of travel,” Sydney Airport General Manager Retail, Andrew Gardiner, said.

The restaurant will serve a selection of its renowned Spanish tapas and raciones designed to share, as well as breakfast, pastries, sandwiches and bocadillos (Spanish sandwiches). Well-known MoVida favourites on the menu will include ‘Bomba’, a Catalan potato and chorizo dish; ‘Carrillera de Buey’, slow braised beef cheek in Pedro Ximenez on cauliflower puree; and Jamon and Manchego Bocadillo.

ARE chose the location of Sydney Airport’s T2 Domestic Terminal because it is a hive of activity at all times throughout the day. Key target groups will include interstate and regional travellers, as well as local Sydneysiders farewelling and greeting their families, friends and colleagues.MoVida @ The Airport Store Concept

“T2 has a constant strong flow of passengers from 6am through to 9pm, who appreciate quality dining. This is evident in the success of our other high quality venues at T2, including Bistro 2020, Brasserie Bread, and premium cafes, Toby’s Estate and Quickshots,” CEO of Airport Retail Enterprises, John Chapman, said.

The Sydney Airport MoVida located at T2’s main concourse marks the sixth venue for the signature Spanish brand.

Architect Adam Dettrick has referenced each of the various venues in the fitout, with MoVida staples such as solid Blackwood bar tops, chunky steel footrests, terracotta tiles and rustic steelwork stamping MoVida’s popular laneway heritage in the space. The venue will also feature eye-catching LED scrolling signage over the bar, which will include MoVida-specific content.

Movida @ The Airport Logo“The primary ingredient of the MoVida experience is fine dining in an enjoyable and relaxed setting, and T2 is a perfect location for us. We will also bring another element to the theatre of eating out for customers, with guests to be greeted with a hearty ‘Hola!’ and a warm, intimate space, just like a traditional Spanish tapas bar,” MoVida Owner and Head Chef, Frank Camorra, said.

MoVida at T2 will be open daily from 6am to 9pm.
